Volunteer

BCB is making plans to welcome small, controlled groups of volunteers to assemble bags while following all CDC and City of Houston recommendations and regulations.

Please note:

  • We are not able to accommodate volunteers who are not registered.

  • All registered volunteers must acknowledge and accept our COVID-19 Notice on arrival.

  • All volunteers will be temperature checked upon arrival and will be issued instructions for hand-washing and gloving. Masks are not provided but are required for all volunteers.

  • Families or co-quarantining groups of (4) are encouraged to sign up together for one volunteer “team” (see registration link for more details).

Top Volunteer FAQs

  1. Where are events held?
Events are held at Holy Spirit Episcopal; 12535 Perthshire Road; Houston, TX 77024. Ample parking is available in both the east and west lots.

  2. What should volunteers expect during an assembly event?
Volunteers gather to pack weekend food bags for the children in our program. Long tables are set up in Palmer Hall for assembly line work. When volunteers arrive, they can begin packing food by moving through the line and placing food items into the bags provided. Leaders will be on hand to help instruct.

Who can volunteer? For the time being, we are imposing age restrictions to those 12-60 years old. Families, children, youth and adults are all welcome!

  3. Can I make a financial donation to the Bayou City Blessings? Yes. We are a privately funded organization and welcome financial support. Each weekend food bag is budgeted at $2.63 or $100 to support one child during the school year. Donate here.

Monthly Food focus

We currently only accept financial donations which allows us to purchase directly from our distributor (saving money and eliminating non-essential travel).  We hope to resume in-kind donations soon.
